NEW WORK


Three new prints have been posted on the Printmaking page: “Screen Test at the Rat Factory,” “The Easy Meat,” and The Worship of Bubbles.”  Two of these are included in the first exhibitions of 2025 (see below).



FIRST EXHIBITIONS OF 2025


The Laboratory on Santa Fe, a contemporary gallery in the Arts District on Santa Fe Ave. in downtown Denver, CO, is hosting a national exhibition of works reminiscent in style and approach of the late filmmaker David Lynch.  The show, entitled Wild at Heart and Weird on Top, includes five of Russ's digital prints:  The aforementioned "The Worship of Bubbles" and  "The Easy Meat," "Reluctant Meatshop Apprentice," "The Pop-Up Doppelgängers of the Professoriate," and "The Fungal Academic."  The show is running from April 11 through June 7.


He exhibited two etchings, "Spectacularly Efficient Dystopia" and "House Party for Post-Animate Professionals," in Dreamscapes, an exhibition of contemporary Surrealism and work rooted in dreams and altered realities.  This show was hosted by the Tubac Center for the Arts in Tubac, AZ, and ran from February 28 – April 13, 2025.


The aforementioned “Screen Test at the Rat Factory” was selected for inclusion in the 39th Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition at Bradley University, the second-longest-running print and drawing competition in the U.S.  This show ran from February 3 – March 27.


Russ was also represented in the 21st edition of Sixty Square Inches, an exhibition at Purdue University of original prints no larger than sixty square inches.  His etching, "I Awoke in a Place Where the Natives Rose Like Fungus," was selected.  The show ran from January 13 – February 14, 2025.
